Let's Get Started

I researched several different calendars this week: AirSet, Outlook, Windows, but I have decided to stay with Goggle, it is free and very easy to use. They are usually working to improve these applications so you need to stay informed about changes. I would like to give you a brief guide for setting up your calendar or if you already use one hopefully you will find some useful information.

  1. Creat a Goggle Account (many of you  have one already, one of our first prerequisites)

  2.  There will be many setting choices to make: do you want to share your calendar, how many calendars do you need, will you want to have any calendars feed into yours. I have New Zealand Holidays on mine because my son-in-law is from there.

  3. Connect your calendar to your mobile device(s). If you use an iPad and a phone you will probably want it to appear on both of those devices.

  4. Once you have entered events you may want them to be sent to you as email reminders or text on one or multiple devices. When using Goggle they suggest entering events in your Goggle calendar when possible for a cleaner sync.

  5. You may want to send invitations to people who need the information on specific calendars. I had a cheer calendar last year and I invited two of the squads parents to access the "Cheer" calendar. I also had the highschool sports calendar feed directly into it instead of having to recreate it. One issue here was on some of my desktop calendars the printed view did not show all the information.
Sync often! Play with it to get comfortable. I forgot most of what I learned a year ago because I didn't stay on top of it.
  6. Now here a link  that will really help you with your Google Calendar.

If you chose Google you will be able to keep all your calendars color coded and only showing when you want them to.
